Your leads go to you and nobody else
Not sold to three other guys an hour before you call. Not a shared list. Not a marketplace. Yours.
That's not a cheap shot at Angi or Thumbtack. In January 2023 the FTC ordered HomeAdvisor to pay up to $7.2 million over how it described the quality and exclusivity of the leads it was selling. That's a public filing on ftc.gov. Go read it before you believe me about anything else.
Why the phone
goes quiet
The lead you paid for was sold to four other companies
Angi, Thumbtack, Yelp and the rest sell the same customer to everybody who will pay for them. By the time you call, two other places have already called. The only thing left to compete on is price, so you cut it, and now the job is worth less than it should be.
Word of mouth has no volume knob
Referrals are the best customers you get. They are also completely outside your control. When they slow down there is nothing you can do to speed them back up, and you find out three weeks after it already happened.
A slow month takes weeks to turn around
When next month looks thin, your options are wait it out, discount, or start calling people. None of those is a lever you can pull on a Tuesday and see something from by Friday.
What I
actually do
I build an ad aimed at people in the area you actually serve. Not the whole state — the towns your customers really come from. That's the market I live in myself: Alexandria, Fergus Falls, Morris, and the towns around them. And it works the same anywhere in the Midwest, because a small town is a small town whether it's in Minnesota, Iowa or the Dakotas.
It points at a page with a short form on it. When someone fills it out it hits your phone in about a second, with their name, their number and what they want. Then I watch which ads people respond to, kill the ones they ignore, and write new ones. That's the job.
Things I don't do
- I don’t take a cut of your ad spend. You pay the platform directly, on your own card.
- The ad account is yours. My name goes on it as a partner, not an owner. You fire me, you keep everything — account, history, audiences, the lot.
- No twelve-month contract. Nobody should be locked in before a single ad has run.
- No dashboard to log into. You’ll know it’s working because your phone rings.
- I won’t take you on if you can’t answer your phone during the day. Not a judgement — it just doesn’t work. The ads make it ring, and if it rings out we both wasted the month.
- I won’t ring your phone out of nowhere. Everything between you and me happens over text, so you can deal with it when you’re not up a ladder. If you’d rather talk it through, say the word and I’ll call — but not before you ask.
What it costs
Three numbers, and one of them never comes to me. Here's the whole structure before you talk to me, so nobody has to dance around it.
Ads
Start here
The phone rings. Nothing else changes.
Setup, one time
[TIER 1 SETUP]
Then, per month
[TIER 1 MONTHLY]
- Ad account set up in your name, on your card
- Ads written, launched, and rewritten when they stop working
- They point at the website you already have
- Every call and enquiry sent straight to your phone
Ads + website
For when the ads are working but the website undoes it.
Setup, one time
[TIER 2 SETUP]
Then, per month
[TIER 2 MONTHLY]
- Everything in Ads
- A page built for the ads to land on, with a form that comes to you
- Your website built, or the one you have rebuilt
- Text me a change, it goes live the same week
Ads + website + search
Ads bring work this month. Search brings it next year.
Setup, one time
[TIER 3 SETUP]
Then, per month
[TIER 3 MONTHLY]
- Everything in Ads + website
- Google Business Profile set up and worked on
- Service and city pages built for local search
- Reviews asked for from your happy customers
Search is slow. Ads make the phone ring in a week; ranking takes six months to a year, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. Take this tier only if you are planning past this season.
Ad spend — every tier
[MONTHLY AD SPEND]
This one never comes to me. You pay the ad platform directly, on your own card, in your own account. I don't take a cut of it and I can't touch it.
What actually leaves your account
[TOTAL PER MONTH] a month
That's my fee plus the ad spend, added up. There is no third number, no setup surprise in month two, and no percentage of anything.
[NOTICE PERIOD, e.g. 30 days] notice to stop, on any tier. Cancel by text — you don't have to write a letter or sit through a call about it.

Money back
If the ads don't bring you a single real lead in the first [GUARANTEE WINDOW, e.g. 30 days], you get back every dollar you paid me. Setup and monthly both.
A real lead means someone who contacted you about the thing you sell, with a real name and a real number. Not a wrong number, not a bot. If that doesn't happen, I haven't done my job and I shouldn't keep your money.
To claim it you reply to any text I've sent you with the word refund. No form, no exit call, nobody trying to talk you out of it. Money back inside [REFUND DAYS, e.g. five] business days.
The one thing I can't refund is your ad spend, because that money went to the ad platform and never touched my account. That's also why you pay them directly — so you can see exactly where it went.
When a lead is junk
Some of them will be. Wrong number, somebody two counties over, a guy pricing a job for next spring. Screenshot it and text it to me. I don't charge you per lead so there's nothing to credit back — what happens instead is I change the ad that brought him in, and I tell you what I changed. If most of them are junk, that isn't a bad month, that's me doing the job wrong, and the line above is how you deal with me.
I'm not going to tell you how many leads you'll get. I don't know yet, and anybody who gives you a number before they've run your ads is guessing at it. What I'll tell you is what I spent, what came in, and what I'm changing — every month, in a text you can read at a stoplight.
What happens
after you send it
- I text you back within a few hours — me, not a scheduler, not an assistant. If you sent it late in the evening, it'll be first thing next morning.
- We sort it out over text. I ask what your best job looks like and what your worst one looks like. Answer when you get a minute — between jobs, end of the day, whenever. If it isn’t a fit I’ll say so right there, before you’ve paid me anything.
- I build the ad account in your name, on your card, in your own Business Manager. You own it from minute one.
- First week I write the ads and put the creative together. You see every one before it runs. Nothing goes live without you.
- Ads switch on inside the first two weeks. Leads hit your phone the moment they come in.
- End of every month you get a text: what I spent, what came in, what I’m changing. Not a report. A text.
Who else have
you done this for?
You're going to ask, so here it is: you'd be early. I'm not going to put fake reviews on a page and hope you don't check, and I'm not going to show you somebody else's screenshots and call them mine.
What you get instead is the money-back line above, an ad account with your name on it, and [NOTICE PERIOD, e.g. 30 days] notice to walk. That's the whole reason those three things are on this page. Somebody with a wall of testimonials doesn't need to offer you any of them.

Six boxes. I'll text you within a few hours and tell you whether ads make sense for what you do. If they don't, I'll say so.
